OnSite Timekeeper: GPS Time Tracking Setup Guide

5 min read

What Is OnSite Timekeeper?

OnSite Timekeeper is a GPS time tracking app designed specifically for construction workers. Define your job site zones on a map, and the app automatically clocks you in when you arrive and out when you leave. No more forgetting to punch in, no more time disputes.

Setting Up Your First Job Site

Step 1: Open the app and tap "Add Job Site." Step 2: Search for the address or drop a pin on the map. Step 3: Adjust the geofence radius (default is 100 metres — works well for most sites). Step 4: Name the site and set your expected hours. That's it — the zone is active.

How Geofencing Works

The app uses your phone's GPS to detect when you enter or leave a job site zone. It runs in the background with minimal battery impact (about 2-3% per day). When you cross the geofence boundary, it logs the timestamp. The app works even without internet — data syncs when you reconnect.

Offline Mode

Construction sites often have poor cell service. Timekeeper stores all clock events locally and syncs when connectivity returns. Your hours are never lost, even in basement work or rural sites.

Weekly Reports

Every week, Timekeeper generates a summary: total hours per site, daily breakdown, and overtime calculations. Export as PDF for your records or send directly to your employer. Supports Ontario's standard 44-hour/week overtime threshold.

Multiple Job Sites

Working on several sites? No problem. Add unlimited zones (Pro plan) and Timekeeper tracks each one separately. The daily view shows exactly where you spent your time, colour-coded by site.

Getting Started

Available on Google Play and App Store. Free plan includes 1 job site zone. Pro ($9.99/month) unlocks unlimited zones, PDF exports, and priority support. Web dashboard at timekeeperweb.onsiteclub.ca.

Privacy

Your location data stays on your device unless you explicitly export or share it. We never sell or share GPS data. The app only tracks when you're near a zone you defined — not your entire day.
